1) How do I change my engine air filter?
2) Is there anyway I can inspect my brakes myself, or do some small bit of maintenance on them?
3) Do I have to the coolant flush/change now?
4) Do I have to change the engine oil? If so, how do I go about doing that.
5) Does my transmission fluid need inspecting/changing?
6) Any other things you guys recommend? Is it better to just do service? Go to an independent shop?
Please consider helping a poor college guy who has to pay for everything himself, haha. Thanks in advance, everyone.
1) Once you pop the hood, on the right side of the vehicle, next to the engine is the Air Box. Theres 2 or 3 clips that hold it closed.
Undo them and lift up the box. It will be a tight squeeze.
2) Pull a wheel off is the best way. Brakes should be replaced when the pad lining itself is 2-3 mm in thickness. If there is a vibration when braking,
your rotors need resurfacing.
3)Coolant is Super-Long Life. Good for 100k.
4) Engine oil should be changed every 5k. I think there's some DIY on here for it.
5) Automatic -World Standard (toyota) Good for 100k/Lifetime of vehicle......Manual-80W90 Gear Oil Recc. replace that.
6) Clean the throttle body on the intake. They get really dirty and cleaning will help the gas mileage/performance of vehicle.
Dealership will have all the correct parts and such to do service on your vehicle (Additives, cleaning TB, Oil and other fluids)
Basically all in a 30k service.
***Owners manual has DIY for much of these. Please read it for your own benefit.
