Tulsa, thanks for the uplifting note.  Others have told me the same thing, not to sweat the 200 miles.  I'm beside myself with excitement for Friday; I have never been this juiced up over a new car since I bought my very first "new car" back in 1990... A VW Fox.  Ironically, it seems I have come back full circle because both cars are very boxy.  Between the VW and the xB I have driven a couple of generic Hyundai sedans with virtually no excitement, pride of ownership or "cool factor" (obviously).  Can't wait to have the feeling of being proud of my car!  Cheesy

My wife has an 05 Xb and she loves it. I've been driving an 01 Civic with 99500 mi. Went to the Scion dealer 2 days ago to see what I could get for a trade on an 08 Xb. They said 4000. Had a private party interested for 5000, Was gonna meet him Sunday so he could drive the car and decide if he wanted it. Don't you know on the way home from work today the trans starts slipping. I don't want to spend a grand to fix the civic just to trade it in and I wouldn't be comfortable selling it to someone so I guess I'll just take it to the dealer as is and see what he'll give me.
 dang it all.

  Lone Wolf..

I feel your pain.  I'm in a similar situation with my 01 Hyundai Elantra with 80K miles, which has even less market value.  I haven't even had it appraised for trade-in since I figured the dealer would give me peanuts, but private party value is around $4K.  I thought I would sell it private party since I don't really need the sale money for my new xB, so I haven't even put an ad out there yet.  Anyway, just days before picking up my new xB, I get the "Check Engine" light and acceleration has turned to sludge.  I'm not thrilled about dumping money into it just to be able to sell it, but certainly no one will buy it as is.

Damn.   sneaky

I'm kinda leaning toward the classic silver

Rye guy, yah I know exactly how you feel. I don't see the sense in putting a grand into it then the dealers offer turns into 3000. Hopefully maybe the'll offer me 2G as is.

Well I did it! Bought my gen2 Xb from Elmhurst Toyota Scion  in Ill. Dealer gave me 1800 for my civic with a slipping trans. From what I gather this is a common problem with 01 2&3 civics and the fix is a 2G and up new trans. so I guess I did OK.
As I pulled out of the dealer I couldn't get the head lights to come on so I pulled right back in to the serevice dept. Turns out some where along the line nobody put bulbs in the headlights. No big deal. So I've got my classic silver gen2Xb and I'm a pretty happy camper right now. Tomorrow I get to look at the manual and try to figure out where everything is and how it works.
Good luck to all you new Scion owners out there.

Congrats Lone Wolf!  We're both proud new owners!  Got my Black Sand Pearl xB2 yesterday and I look for every excuse under the sun to run errands, just so I can drive it.  Most fun car I've had in a long, LONG time.

I'm not one to normally do any mods, but this car is so darn easy to take apart. So far I've only just begun, but I installed a power outlet in back and Hella fog lights (in front Smiley )

Got my Classic Silver on 3/14/08 in Humble,TX, and already have over 4,200 miles on it averaging 28.3 mpg overall. Really like the room inside and when you are slightly larger than the average bear (6'3/295) that makes a difference.

I drive about 30K per year in business and the 2004 Explorer I traded was eating my lunch in gas. Besides, this is much more fun to drive; almost as much fun as when I used to race Triumph Spitfires back in the Dark Ages. Only problem I have with the Xb, so far, (besides the absolutely worthless arm rest) is that everything I have read says towing with the Xb is not recommended - so why are Class II hitches available, huh? Oh well, guess the wife will just have to get the SUV; this is way too cool and too much fun to trade with her.

That's great mileage!!!  Here's another note; Consumer Reports mentions the reduced visibility in the new XB but I haven't had a problem at all.  There's so much more visibility than my old Magnum and there's a lot more "space" around me when I'm in traffic.  I've had mine 6 weeks now and I find something new to like about it every week!    Smiley

Mayber there is less visability compared with the old xB's but I have no trouble seeing out of this thing.

I only have slight difficulty visibility-wise and it's when checking my blind spot... My short stature and seat position cause the a-pillar to be in just the perfect spot to interfere.
