those of us living in california start at a disadvantage to everyone else.  our fuel is crap.  in three cross county trips (two in a tC and one in twin turbo supra), fuel mileage increased significantly after we had departed california burned through a couple more tanks to clean it all out.  60ish miles per tank better.  watching a tC pull 440 miles on a tank was fantastic.  around here, we would have been lucky to see 375.
my wife is the primary driver of our xB.  she is about a 95% city driver.  we are mere blocks from her work, daycare, etc, and she hasnt logged but maybe 3200 miles since she got it in june.  she is an easy driver, and while i havent been the one to put gas in the car yet to do the calculation, the mpg counter shows her at 25.6 last time i looked.  she is within the sticker range, pretty much in the middle of it, and pulls that off with virtually zero highway mileage.

have you checked actual mileage by calculating from fuel purchased and miles driven?

the mileage calculator is an estimate and i have found it to be ~2 miles less than the displayed mpg on both my xB and my Solara - that still reflects good mileage for in town driving  Smiley

i believe the low fuel light comes on with approximately 3 gallons left to give you warning to fuel up soon!!  Wink

that cant be right, i've put in over 12.5 gallon with no light on. When they gave me an xD to drive before we took delivery they light came on with 22miles left on the range meter

and try not to run that tank down to low... if I remember correctly it's not good on fuel injectors to run the tank so low that your light is coming on... especially as the car gets older.

I'm getting 26-27.0 on my computer's mpg.

That's driving up and down a mountain for most of the miles, so I consider it pretty good.

the mileage calculator is usually a little high - have you check actual mileage yet?

if you get a chance, do it sometime and let us know how much difference there is in your actual compared to the mileage calculator mpg amount...

mine is ~1.7 mpg too high compared to actual mpg...

I'm curious what type of gas most people are using in their xB? Regular or Premium?

91 Oct w/ 10% ethanol worse gas mileage but at 15 cents cheeper per gallon I still save after the lost of mpg.

I average 2 - 2.5 miles per gallon better when using 87 oct. no ethanol

i use 87 octane also - i tried out 89 for a few tanks and really saw no mileage gain but it did feel slightly stronger...

it is hard to avoid ethanol where i live in california so i do not worry about that...

Ditto on the 26 to 27 MPG, That's on 87 octane with 10% ethanol in Illinois. My mileage has been consistent since hitting 5k, all the way up the the 18k currently on the odometer.

I think I'm getting 28 avg, got 29 on interstate (actual gas usage and miles driven, not by the computer), and 31 on federal highway (50 mph speed limit)

Another one of ours is 31 most of the time, but he drives all higway all the time.

Twenty 26-27 on the other two scions, they drive mostly city and some highway.
