About the 2008 Scion xB (aka Scion xB2)
The Scion xB has been completely redesigned for 2008. While it still retains the general wagon appearance as the first generation
Scion xB, introduced in 2004, it is definitely a new model, sporting a much curvier shape. The 2008 Scion xB is wider and longer
than the previous generation. It also houses a more poweful 2.4L engine, which is the same engine that powers the Scion tC and
the base model Toyota Camry. While owners of the 2008 Scion xB will see a decrease in MPG vs. the previous model, many feel
that is well worth it and the 2nd Generation Scion xB is much improved.
If you are unfamiliar with the history of the Scion xB, here is a quick overview. The original, first generation Scion xB, was
actually a rebadged Toyota bB, sold in Japan. In 2006, Toyota provided a concept vehicle, the t2b. It is the t2b that the second
generation Scion xB is based on. The 2nd gen xB is the first true Scion xB; however, it has recently been released in Japan as a
Corolla Rumion, which has various design
differences. The Toyota bB was redesigned for its second generation, but has a much different design than the 2nd gen xB.
Beginning with the 2008 Scion xB, various names are being used to describe the new model, including Scion xB2, xB 2.0, G2xB, 2GxB,
the shoe, shoe box, etc. Many people feel that it is inappropriate to call the 2nd gen Scion xB names used on the original Scion xB,
such as toaster, box, xBox, lunchbox, hotbox, bus, short bus, the cube, etc.
Paint colors currently available for the 2008 Scion xB are as follows: Black Sand Pearl, Blackberry Crush Metallic, Classic Silver
Metallic, Hypnotic Teal Mica, Nautical Blue Metallic and Super White.
