I had to take mine back in.  It is suppose to light up like the pictures.  Mine you pretty much had to have a blanket over you and total darkness.  They replaced the light and now it lights up just like the picture.  Now unfortunately I am hooked on LED's and have tons of plans to add interior lighting and exterior lighting.

God bless

Revrent, mine are dim during the day and they are not that terribly bright when it is dark. Thanks for pointing that out. I might have to have someone look at mine. Although I have been thinking of using the existing wiring that is there for them and upgrading them to some one color bulbs from oznuim.com.

Oznium is the way to go. Its cheap, it looks absolutely great too. i have my floorwells all lit up and my two overhead lights (maplights) filled up.  It looks awesome at night. But beware only for nighttime, its hardly visible at all during the daytime. My only reccommendation is not to put them under the driver or passenger seat. i have had to replace those many times due to my riders accidently kickn, or puttn miscellaneous items that break the tube. BUT, it is ABSOLUTELY awesome.

I just got my 2009 Silver xB about 2 weeks ago.  I had the interior illumination kit dealer installed and also have noticed that the footwells seem really dim, even at night.  Anyone know if I should have the dealer fix this or if I should replace the lights with something aftermarket?  If I go aftermarket, what do you recommend?  Also, is it easy to do?  I've never worked on anything on a car in my life so clearly I am a super newbie.  Would love to hear any feedback on this.  Thank you.

I can't see any colors in my footwell at night except blue...and thats Very faint.

I bought the kit from Sparks Toyota, and had them installed at my local Toyota. I can't return them 'cause they're installed...but will my local dealer pin the problem on sparks?

I'm upset w/ toyota about these crappy footwell lights...they appear to be a single led running through some fiber-optic-ish tube.

what do i do???

I found what I consider to be a better idea with a lower cost. I picked up a 18inch led tape from a truck stop. The tape comes in sets of two so I actually bought three sets. I ran wires up the center piller and the tape is attached along the edge of the door frame on the top edge of the door. I also bought a set of lights that is round and you make a hole the size of a quarter. Each one has three leds so its very bright. I mounted one on the top edge of the kick plate in the front and next to the seatbelt anchor in the back. When the belt is unhooked its actually behind the strap. You have to be carefull to have room for the light behind the panel. The lights on the floor really light up the  bottom area and the ones over the door make the inside glow. I normally keep the dome light off and its easy to read by the interior lighting. I had the door sill lights so I just hooked into them If anyone is interested i will see about posting some information on wiring. I made it complicated so that I could turn the lights on with the door or switch them off. I also have a 2nd switch that turns them on as a dome light and alos a set along the back door on the top of the plastic lower door cover. That set actually flashes in several sequences including a left then right chase. Its set to light the inside but you can see the glow from outside. The flashing light is only legal while stopped and it is set to be only semi visable from the back. I also put a couple of LED's in the drink holder but im not impressed with the ones I used. The light works well to make sure you get the drink in and out without incidents.

did you upgrade? did it work with the pre-existing wiring? So basically the light kit from scion blows? curious about the thing about the dealership placing them in upside down maybe...to ask if they can fix them.

Yeah it was mine that were installed upside down. Even After they fixed them...they're not that great. if i were to do it again, i'd get other lights and have them installed somewhere...it was like 5x more expensive than aftermarket....and 0.5x as good.
