Kind of pricey - The 2008 xB has 3 locations in the rear just waiting for me to design my own sub.

Frankly, with all the alternate provers out there, I'm not sure why anyone would go with an OEM solution for something like audio. Sure, for the radio and even the nav it makes sense, but just pricing out the Scion branded solutions I'm finding that everything you can get is available for less with more features, higher quality, and nicer aesthetics. Sure, it might be a little more difficult to install and fabricate, but for this example I'm sure even Becker Automotive could put something in for me for less and more well integrated.
ICE has just come too far to trust a company like Toyota to be an expert.

wansuie,
I am trying to understand your last post. Is it 250 for just the tweeter and panel minus subwoofer unit? Or have you found a place where you can get with sub unit for 250?
I have been intrigued with this C-pillar sub unit. However, discouraged, one by price $515 on newscionparts, and two negative feedback with woofer quality.
Questions I can't find answers to...
Is it just a ported sub box?
Or is it a transmission line sub to reinforce the 6" (?) driver? What is the driver size anyway?
Is it misadvertised as a subwoofer?
What are the specs on the amplifier?
Can it be modded for an 8" woofer? Will an 8" fit depth wise?
Possible positives...
The unit is a clean install, gets rid of the funky rectangle in the C-pillar.
Gives you a forward firing high mid/tweeter to help fill in soundstage. Ultimately, one on each side would be ideal.
Doesn't take away cargo or foot space.
If it provides decent bass, great for those who want punch and not BOOM, and don't want to advertise their system 5 cars back/forward at a stoplight.
If the price was right, you could simply replace the driver with one designed for LF reinforcement.
I would like to just purchase the liner without the electronic and audio parts.
Anyway, my thoughts/concerns with this unit. Anybody else have experience or knowledge with this unit?

mustrd,
I paid $250 (plus shipping from Japan) for a passenger-side panel and tweeter. (The panel is on its way).
I got the driver-side c-pillar unit for $500+. It came with a paper tweeter, paper cone mid-range bass (NOT a subwoofer), and a useless 15-watt amplifier.
Based on my own experience, I do NOT recommend this set-up at all. Instead, save your money and just install a ported sub box in the trunk. You might also want to change the rear door panel speakers to a component unit. You should also place the two tweeters on top of the c-pillar; this way, the sound will be much richer for you, as the driver.
I bought this subwoofer carbon fiber enclosure from eBay for $200 (subwoofer not included).
I hope this answers your questions!

that bazooka sub looks really nice! For the other molded speaker and sub set-up offered from scion, I wonder if it would be possible to just buy the xB panels and then insert your own (better quality) speaker and sub?

That's what i was thinking/hoping....I like the look of the mid/tweet, and a good place to tuck a woofer....should be pretty easy to put sound dampening in while replacing the panel.
