I always hand wash my vehicles and am a big fan of Eagle-1 Wax As You Dry. I'll use Mothers Back To Black or Aerospace 303 Protectant on interior plastic.  I buy what ever is on sale for car washing or tire shine and never use Armor All on anything except tires and never wash a car with dish washing detergeant.

Disregard my initial post in this thread - I've been using Zaino car wash & microfiber towels on the xB. I saw the commercials for the Turtle Wax Ice, so I looked up some reviews and, while it's easier to use, the conclusion was that it's not as good as Zaino or NXT AFA appearance & longevity. I'm all about the ease-of-use, but it's not cheap. Unfortunately I just don't have the time to do the multi-step Zaino process, so I may give the Ice polish a whirl. If I like it, then I can start from scratch w/ the Dawn, clay bar, polish process... we'll see...

I love to use Klasse, it stays on the car for about 6 months. I also add a coat of NXT for a good look, but that doesn't last very long.

Re: Turtle Wax Ice - I saw a pack at Costco yesterday w/ the polish & detailer sets for under $20. Just the polish alone at Wal-Mart is $16+

I'm new to Scion and this web site and totally ignorant about wash and wax and stuff.  I'm embarrassed to say I am one of those gals who has used dishwashing liquid. eek

Well, after reading all your great advice/experiences I went to Walmart and bought Meguiars 3 step package that had the clay in it.  Cuz it was cheapest at $14+, Mequiars web site wanted $29.  I used it on my 1995 Civic and love the results (except the pain in my neck).  I liked the ease of use and how easy it was to get the wax off.  I will continue to try all the different brands y'all mentioned til I find what works best for me.  My new Scion is still garaged so doesn't need washing yet.  Next guinea pig will be the 98 Ford Explorer.

Thanks for settin this car ignorant gal straight!  I will never use dishwashing liquid again!! Cheesy

I gave the Turtle Wax Ice Polish a try this weekend and I'm pleased. I'm by no means an expert when it comes to wax & polish, but I know I don't have the time for the multi-step process w/ Zaino. The Ice Polish went on and came off easily and it didn't take all morning to wash the car. The shine is pretty nice and I liked being able to use it on the black plastic moldings. I also appreciated the fact that I could use it in the sun, whereas I'd have to get up at 5 or 6 am to get the car washed & waxed w/ something else before being in direct sunlight (& heat). The bottle will last me a while, so I don't think I'll be trying anything else anytime soon...

Hey Geezer -
No problems using Back to Black on the *interior* (e.g, the dash)? Its says it is for exterior use.
Also, which do you prefer (303 or B2B), or for what type of problems do you use each for?
My flat dash area above the glove compartment has started to get white spots on it, as if
it was painted and the paint is coming off! I've only used ArmourAll Original and water (damp cloth).
Gee, which do I suspect is causing the problem, hmm?
Thanks!
- Mike

i only use a soft cloth that is pretty damp with water to wipe my dash down and then i wipe any water left off with a cotton cloth - my dash has no wear spots yet and i have had it almost a year now...

I use the Interior detailer for the dash. It leaves no residue and is not glossy. I hate the glossy look on the interior panels. Here is the link to the detailer. Nothing better.

A buddy of mine showed me some stuff by Stoner. It is called Trim Shine. I use if for the motor. Works awesome on the plastic peices and makes them stay shiny but not oily looking. Looks good for weeks. Here is the link to it.

Hopefully that helps some. Great products for sure.

I use Stoner's Tire Shine all the time, thanks for the tip about using it on the interior.

I use Meguiars and Mothers products. I like the Mothers clay bar and Meguiars waxes and carwash products. In a pinch the Turtle carwash (green liquid) is pretty good too... and cheap at the Wallyworld.
