Hey guys,
What do you guys use to dry your car? I have been using shammys mainly The Absorber, to dry my cars for years, it works great for me. But I was thinking about switching to microfiber towels since I am hearing so many good things about it. Has anybody switched from shammy to microfiber? or gone back?

I just use well aged, soft, terry cloth bath towels. When they become too unsavory to use in the bathroom they become car towels. They do a good job, last for years (car towels only get better with age), become grease rags when they're too tattered to dry the car, and best of all they're free. I used to use a chamois years ago, but by the time they got broken-in, I'd pick up a grease smear that ruined them. I've never bought into the microfifer towel culture. A little lint doesn't bother me.

I have used the Absorber for many years, but I switched to a microfiber towel for the xB and like it much more. Just have to watch if the microfiber has a tag or stitching that will scratch. I wash the microfiber towel after each use just in case it picked up some dirt I missed while washing.

I use the autozone microfiber towels that come in a package of 10 I think. They work well to wash and dry my car.

Wave Rider. Since microfiber towels have small hooks in the threat ends like Velcro, I am concerned that using one to wash the car would hold the dirt in the towel more than a regular type wash cloth would causing scratching. I read that the reason microfiber towels clean better is because it has 90k thread ends per inch (something like that) with a special end cut to grab the dirt and hold it.
Have you noticed if your wash towel looked dirtier after you get done washing your car than the regular rag was?

Oh I didnt know that. Hmm I didnt notice that but then again Ive olny have used it once (couldnt find my sheepskin mit last sunday) the cloth looked dirty but then again so was my car. Thanks for the info maybe Ill go back to what I was using.

My 2 pennies on this is go with the micorfibers. They work really well and are very easy on the paint. I bought a huge bag of them from Costco. I got 36 in the package and it was 15 dollars. And they are good quality too. I liked them so much I sent some to my Dad for fathers day and he loves them also.
Microfibers are the way to go. Theres my 2 cents....lol

i bought some microfibers from autozone and didn't really like them. then i tried the waffle towels that autozone sold and loved them. they hold more water than the microfibers and just do a better job of drying. the microfibers kinda stuck to the car making it hard to dry. but the waffle towels glide smoothly and pick up more water. weeeeeeeee

When I was a youngster, I used the old bathroom towels. Then I graduated to chamois. Then I read that 100% cotton (made in USA only) was the way to go. But for my birthday last month, I got a microfiber. I gotta say it was pretty dang good.

I use the micro fiber for the inside and a well used terrycloth towel for the outside. I found that the microfiber didn't do the job as well as the terrycloth. This is the first time I actually washed the car myself. Have been going to the car wash prior to this and they seem to use the terrycloth towels also.
