I thought the only thing that they were changing was the radio and adding a new color for 2010?

I wonder he got that info.  All the reviews state that the only change is to the stereo.

I've seen the new color, but am not aware of transmission changes.  Hubby's XRunner is six speed.  Hasn't really helped much with mileage numbers because the lower gears are short.  I like the idea, but this car is really light and six speeds for a four banger just seems a bit much.

5 speed auto just makes shifting smoother.... like the 7 speed Tundra... Unless maybe we like to mess around using S-mode... hmmm

Last I heard it was going to be RWD not AWD. Also it will be a toyota not a scion, as I have been told, because it will be beyond the 20k price range and Scion's stay below that price.

I would like to see a Constant Velocity Transmission used in the Scion.  My son's Nissan  is smooth and quiet.  It would also eliminate that gear hunting in overdrive.

CVT would be nice. Drove  a Ford Freestyle with one last fall when we were looking to replace the station wagon. There was  NO jump at all during acceleration.
