For  woody kit, Hit up Steve at scionpro It is in the works I beleive for gen 2!

Woody Wagoon and Scionpro Inc have joined to create the first Gen 2 Woody kit! The sample car is going into the shop this week and the full kit will be available in two to three weeks complete with raised wood trim. The sample car is black with half moons, wide whites and red outer rim trim...so it will be a total complement to the retro look! Stay tuned for pictures and pricing.

As for the wheels those are it tart. I found they are called moonies and smoothes depending on the material. I like the ones you showed me and they are cheep but anyone see ones like I had posted in my org. pic?

For the confused as to what he is talking about . . .
I sent a PM with a link to these and asked if these were something he might like:
(wondering if wants modern, old-school caps, or "classic" aluminums)

Rest:

-Mostly 15 inchers

Additional:
By the first post, it looks like he is interested in a "classic" 5-spoke look.

Im interested in the same ones as in the picture of the 1st gen woody pic I posted in this thread but I cant find them. It seems that they fit right in the middle of the rim and leave the rest showing so maybe a 12 inch smoothy and then paint my rim nbm lie in the pic i posted?

And yes tartan has been helping me ALLOT on this and on other things so mad props to him!!!

That would be:
(Edit: sorry, I don't know how to shrink this one)

Those wheels are specific non-stock steelies (note the rim hole pattern).  For moons/caps like that to work, one needs small flanges on the steelie itself to hold the cap.  The Scion steelies don't have those flanges.
I haven't actually looked for a source for those!  Though they should be somewhere out there.

Oh, it's fun for me.
I would get a dozen xBs and mod each totally different, had I the capital.  A couple of those would be woodies, one "vintage stock" looking and one "vintage hot rod" looking.
So, I get to help create one of those vicariously without the expense.  It makes me happy.

I also have a dozen other ideas "gestating" in my brain.

My only problem is I'm new to the Scion-World and don't know the aftermarket as well as I would like.

(Now, if anyone has a Miata they want to mod . . . I have several ideas that would look COOL on the road and different than anything I've seen.  I would love to get one or more actually made by someone.  I have a full parts list . . . somewhere.)

Anything I can do to make the world better by neat cars, I'd love to help.
(Maybe someone should hire me to help create customs . . .)

heh. So do you have anything you would add my my woody idea tart?

I dont have time right now but tomarrow Ill try to track down those "steelies" , whitewalls and moonies. I really hope the new xb kit looks nice so all our work isnt waisted.

Anyone wanna photoshop that pic with a nbm paint instead of that red and change the pinstriping to a light blue, tint the windows a darker black, add window visors and fix the back end so its more like a gen2 Smiley

Oh, Mike (of the wheel company) sent a response to my email.
Neither one will fit the stock rims.

He said:

Dash:
I'd paint the dash a mix of nautical blue (large areas), light blue (main trim), and orange for any small accents or lettering you want to stand out.
Last night, I looked at hot rods in some books I have and noticed many 3-toned dashes with the body colour, a main sublte trim hue and a striking tone for any parts they wanted to emphasize or a name or logo/picture painted onto the right hand blank panel of the dash.

As for my car, I am leaning toward fake-moonshine hauler (running dry, of course) or mini delivery truck that has been "hot rodded."
Either way, I am mainly using interior and suspension/handling work.  On this one, I want the exterior alterations to be subtle and look "stock," just backdated from 2008/9.
For some reason, the xB has me thinking late 30-early 50s "Streamline" designed and shaped cars, which happen to also be the same era used for "classic" hot rods.  Now, before anyone laughs at using "Steamline" with an xB, remember that I am talking 1930s streamlining from what really was cube shaping and completely flat fronts and sides.  On the delivery trucks and sedans, of the era, the cars remained fairly boxy by modern standards, but the overall look was muck more "modern" and aerodynamically effiecent than the earlier design.  Part of the intent was to look sleeker, even if not actually better.  Enough for that now, but the xB reminds me of the resultant sedans, panel trucks, and small delivery vans of the "streamline" design era (which happens to be my favorite design era).
So, I'll probably just do stuff to my xB to enhance that . . . (as if it was a "Concept Car" of that era for a "sedan/truck of the future," I actually own books that cover detailed designs for such that were never built-> by Raymond Lowey, Norman Bel Geddes, and the like).

But, this thread is for Wave Rider's woody!

Im going to wait on colors untill after I see the color of woodgrain they use on the woody pannels. But the 3 tone is a good idea.

I also though of a great shift knob idea. Use a tiki god as a shift knob I know they make them for the older hotrod style cars.

Another thing Im going to do. Track down an old VW bus and use the wood luggage rack/roof rack and mod its feet to fit my car. It will give it even more of a retro look. Also Im going to make my own wood trim to go over the black trim around the window if the woodykit that comes out on maybe doesnt already have that.
More ideas to come...

What I am thinking: Nautical Blue surface, Shadow wave in background nautical and powder blue, vehicle name in orange-> either in the crest of the wave, next to the crest of the wave, or emblazoned across the wave (ala WW2 nose art).

Tiki would be perfect.  In fact, one name I was thinking of mentioning to you is "Tiki Transport."  Anyways, a tiki knob is great.  If you can't find one,  I know of a woodworker in North Georgia that does custom carving work.  I just don't know the best way of lever attachment.

I used to know of a source for those (Had one once, but it left with my 87 Vanagon/Bus).  That was something I should have just kept.

Edit- Here are some:

The "classic" one was made by Empi and there have been numerous clones over the last several decades.  So, you could also look for an "Empi roof rack" in a search.

There are more vendors out there, but can't remember who or if they are even still in business.  Last I dealt with them was a decade ago.  Look at Hot VWs magazine or another vintage VW magazine.  Their ads would help find a high quality one.  I'll look sometime this weekend and see if I can find my old VW magazines.  If so, I'll look at the ads (which will jog my memory of who I like, knew well of, and who carried what.

Youtube of guys building one:

Huh? I never expected the Japanese built Scion xB would bring back so many memories of my near decade driving that German built, rear engined VW.   lol  Cheesy  Good memories, except the xB has decent brakes and FAR better acceleration (It can get out of its own way and stop without planning ahead . . .)

here are some photos in this thread of the woody kit.

Not for me but I think it looks pretty good. If it were me I would leave off the part that goes on the front fenders.

Oh and as far as a surfboard. I would see if you could get a mock board. One thats not made for actually surfing, just for looking good. Might be cheaper.
