Giant from Seattle, going to buy XB 2.0 this week, last minute research

Greetings everyone!
First and foremost I am excited about getting a Scion XB, it is a gorgeous vehicle with Toyota's reliability. This will be my first major purchase being a recent college grad who has done well keeping old used cars alive, hence my love for toyota's in the first place.. those cars can take a beating! What actually brought my attention to the Scion XB was all that room and space for the driver. I am 6'7" and most giants have a hard time finding a vehicle that fits them. The scion XB has been highly recommended by most online tall groups and is on their top 5 .
http://www.usatoday.com/money/autos/2004-01-14-tootall_x.htm
I have a few questions for the Scion XB owners out there
1) If you were to do it all over again would you buy from a dealership new? Buy used from Dealer? Buy used from a private owner?
After 2 weeks of research I am finding that there isn't a real signifcant drop in price between used and new. I am looking to trick out my scion so this is a factor as well.
2) I am torn between Nautical Blue and Black Berry Crush Metalic, anyone who has either have anything to chime in about? How does the blue and red look like with some dirt or pollen on it?
3) If I do buy new should I just get a base model and then get all the upgrades later cheaper? I am also looking to drop the extra $$ for LEDs, does anyone know if I have to get the cup holder and floor LEDs with the initial purchase or could it be installed later and from a 3rd party company? As for navigation I was going to get a Tom Tom.
4) Aside from dropping my first few paychecks to
http://www.trdsparks.com/
for some neat upgrades, is there a paticular upgrade that everyone swears by? That is a must own?
I am very excited about this purchase but trying to keep a cool clear head about this.
after all fire in the heart sends smoke to the head.
Thanks for any input!
-Your friendly Giant from Seattle

Hello my jolly giant friend to the north (Im in Olympia) and welcome to NSXB.
At 6'2 I love my car and find it very roomy. In fact its the only car I test drove that I could fit my long legs in comfortably.
I dropped $23,000 on a new car fresh off the lot with min. upgrades like foglights, scion alarm, leather steering wheel, spolier, and floor mats plus and tax. Honestly if I could do it all over again Id buy a used one for about $15,000. I do love all the little extra things I got. The spolier helps keep the rain off the back window, and the foglights are good to have here in Washington. I sold my stock floormats and upgraded to the all-weather WeatherTech brand since we seem to get alot of rain here in Washington.
I got NBM and love it.. its held up well and hides dirty pretty good. I can post a picture of what a dirty NBM looks like if you want.
Hope that helps a little.

It does help a great deal, thank you.
In an hour I am going to test drive a used 08 nautical blue scion xb manual that is for $14,500 with only a few extra options added onto it. Wish me luck!

It was painless for me to buy from the dealer w/ fixed price.
I have BBCM and it is ok / dirt. THe back hatch seems to get dirty.
Options are unlimited, but you can get a custom look if you go with aftermarket accessories

This is my new 2008 Scion XB, it is a manual and I got it at 9000 miles STILL COVERED BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY! I went through an autobroker and got a sweet deal, mostly a standard stock vehicle with a really nice sun roof installed. All together for $14.5k my biggest problem was with my bank last week. Spent the weekend driving my new car to show my family and friends.
Thanks for the advice Waverider!

Is that Waverider's BoxShark?
Or the other one you test drove?
