Yeah good thing you got those posts. LCD is better than plasma. That sounds like a really good deal you are getting Samsung is a good TV.

Ross makes a good point, make sure the TV is FULL HD which would be the 1080p. 1080i isn't full HD but it isn't far off. But if I am assuming right most likely that 52" Samsung you are talking about should be 1080p, but it doesn't hurt to make sure it is.

That looks like a whole lot of TV for 1699.   As for the warranty, chances are you won't have any problems...but if you did it would probably be in that third year and it would almost certainly cost more than $300 to fix.  The "light engine" (?) on our Sony is going out after 3 years....fortunately we found out it was some kind of design flaw in this model and Sony is covering the cost.   The repair guy said that otherwise it would have cost us about $1,300 to fix.   

Enjoy your new toy.  You'll be ready for the Olympics in August.

LOL, it is a lot of tv....too much IMO, but certainly not in hubbys!   Our room is approx 15 x 15 and this thing is a monster!

Glad Sony is paying for your repairs.  The salesman told us he only recommends the warranty on 2 items in HHGregg....tvs and refrigs.   For 3 yrs, they will fix it in my home or take it to the store, free of charge.  If a part has to be fixed/replaced 3 times, I get a new tv (lemon clause).

 If we hadn't gotten it, which we almost didnt', we'd have to send the tv to Samsung or take it ourselves to a repair shop if there was one local.  

I hated shelling out the 300, but feel better doing so.
