the fins might be due to how the boat goes through, not over big waves - this is the description from the article: The boat is designed to cut through waves rather than sail over which enables the boat to go faster through big seas compared to conventional craft. Earthrace is fuelled on 100 per cent biodiesel and has a net zero carbon footprint. |

That makes alot more sense. Pretty cool that its designed to go through the waves instead of over them. That definatly thinking outside the box. Hope we hear more about it. Maybe a Discovery channel special show about it.

Thats a cool map, looks like its not going across open water for the entire voyage. Makes sense as its running a close to the equater as it can the entire time.
