check out this Eco-boat that is going to try and break the round the world speed record:




i really like the design - it is powered by bio-fuel including fat from liposuction [kinda gross]

the fins might be due to how the boat goes through, not over big waves - this is the description from the article:

The boat is designed to cut through waves rather than sail over which enables the boat to go faster through big seas compared to conventional craft.  Earthrace is fuelled on 100 per cent biodiesel and has a net zero carbon footprint.
