Happy 4th everyone!!!!!!!!!  Just had a yummy cookout, waiting for dusk to go see the town's fireworks, then home for DH to light up all the ones we bought!   And of course, sparklers for the kids!~

Woohoo! Went to the local playhouse this afternoon to see my wife's sister's three girls perform in a play, then back here for burgers, rice and corn-on-the-cob. After dinner I went to Walmart to get some mouse(or is that mice?) traps, because earlier today we started hearing odd scraping noises along the back of the house that freaked out my wife. Not quite dark enough yet for fireworks, but the kids were so anxious we let them do a few of the spinners and morning glorys. It's raining lightly, hopefully it'll quit by dark.

Just got back from a James Taylor concert and fireworks at Tanglewood in Lenox, MA.  Great show at a great venue with about 20,000 enthusiastic fans.

I need to get one of those.  The trigger type are a bit cruel.  I've had to kill several mice that were just horribly crippled by the trap.  I had to use a hammer, then cleaner for the blood.  It freaked my wife out and she cried.  If it had to die, I'd rather it be quick.

I wonder what the range for release and not return to my house is . . . Or at least feed a snake.
A death and into a trash can just seems pointless . . .

Back to topic:
We had a cookout for lunch, leftovers for dinner. My kids took a long nap and then stayed up late (my kids are small) to watch "boom booms."
I have a fun day!

Walmart, buck-50. Reusable, too. Little bit of peanutbutter on a piece of cracker. Recommended release point at least a mile away. Ours will not be returning.

Neighbors had some nice fireworks going in the park across the street. My kids are too young yet, so they did sparklers and those spinner things. And poppers! They figured out that it looks and sounds pretty cool if they all grab a handfull and toss them into the air all at the same time. The best part was watching my 12-year-old try to light a candle. Lit the match, lit the wick and had a decent flame going, then blew out the match right towards the candle, and blew out the candle as well.

My 8 yr old got to do Roman Candles by himself this year.  (not lighting tho).  He thought they were much cooler than the sparklers!

Yes sir-eee, by cracky!  JT has aged well and his voice has held up.  He's now touring with his "Legends" band which has about eight members including a horn section that really rocks.  The audience spans the 8-80 year old range.

I'm also an old CSN&Y fan, but their performances are embarassing these days

We went over to my parents' house for BBQ & swimming w/ some family friends. It was our son's first 4th & he loved the fireworks! He actually got impatient while they were trying to light the next ones Tongue
The next day we went down to the Bay Area & saw more family, many who hadn't met our son yet, plus we got to meet my cousin's 7mo old daughter, so that was fun... saw a couple of xBs on the way, but we were in the Camry, so it would have just been weird if I waved Wink
