Love the Cairn, very cute. The other one looks like a ball of fur Smiley

I changed my original post today, took out the morbid sadness part.
He's pretty much OK now, but stil has a big lump in his abdomen.
Doesn't seem to be affecting him at this time.

Holy cow! A week! That is just awful. So sorry Sad

I should have got back to this a few months ago. He recovered. The lump in his abdomen is still there, so he's not really cured, just the symptoms have subsided for now. The vet had us all worried for pretty much nothing.

That's really a good news.Your dog is so cute.I too have a three months old Labrador. Its very naughty.

bob....my big white one has lumps on his legs, sides and belly (getting one on his eyelid now) and the dr says they are fatty masses and any that are "suspicious'', we test and they come back ok.  Hope your pup's will always be "nothing to worry about" too.

We hope so too, shancopp. He seems mostly OK for now.. same pep as always, but just looking at him you can tell something is not right. His spine is starting to stick through his back, so we know the growth is getting bigger. He's also having problems "holding it" and has been messing in the house lately if we leave him alone for more than about 4-5 hours.

On the other hand, he's eating like a king... ground meat.. chicken, ham, burgers. We blend it in the food processor with rice and a little bit of kibble. He gobbles it all right up.

And he still loves to ride in the xB, even if he goes to the vet Smiley

R.I.P. Mischief.

Wednesday evening we put him to rest. It was very sad but peaceful. My wife and I with our 2 boys held onto him.
We knew back in October this day would come, but it's still sad.

There was nothing we could do. He was wasting away, stopped eating and very lethargic. He lost 5 pounds (out of 22) since November, most of it in the last month.

He's had his final ride in my xB.  Cry

Oh no!  I'm so sorry.  But you did the right thing and you were there for him and you know thats what he wanted.  He's just your guardian angel now, watching out for you and your family!!  Hang in there!!

Thank you both. We knew, and we know he knew too.

When he was walking around, he had his tail between is legs. He never did that while we had him.
We treated him the best we could.

He was probably just sad he was leaving you guys and not being able to physically be there!!  But you know he is there in spirit.  You did the right thing (and he obviously knows you guys did the right thing).  I know its hard but just remember he is there, even if you don't see him, he is there.

As much as I love dogs, dog ownership doesn't fit my current lifestyle.  I am, however, dog sitting a friend's Lab.  Lulu is a sweetheart. Even the resident cat has accepted her.  I understand how close people can be to their dogs.

I have to commend you for being willing to sit for a friend's dog. I am guessing at some point in your life you've owned a dog or two, and would know the feeling of needing someone to watch your pooch, and maybe not wanting to give it over to a kennel or "pet hotel" for a few days or weeks. So, thank you.
