I believe 98 GrandAm is 5 x 100, so they won't go on 09 xB.

There are pdf files you can download that show the diagrams. http://www.fsu-clan.com/scion/
You have to drill out the rivets. There are several discussions about the rear speakers. You might want to do a search.
8  Technical & Styling / Audio / Electronics / Re: disarming the alarm on: June 07, 2008, 11:18:58 PM
Im not 100% sure but I think you may have a aftermarket alarm. I used to install keyless entry upgrade systems at dealerships. Meaning that just because you have the OEM keyfob doesnt mean you have an OEM alarm.

Does your car actually chirp AND beep? If not, which noise do you hear? If its the actual horn Im pretty sure you have an aftermarket alarm.

I don't know if it's aftermarket or not. If you go to Scion's web site under CARS->XB->PERSONALIZE->INTERIOR->Scion Security System->Scion Security System $469. That's what I asked for at the dealer at the time of purchase. The window sticker lists it under "DISTRIBUTOR INSTALLED OPTIONS" -> S4 SCION Security 469.00. They had to special order mine because they didn't have a manual XB w/ Scion security at the lot at the time. I would think that they could've installed an aftermarket one to a manual XB they have available.

Here in Oklahoma City, in the Spring/Summer time, it's thunder storm/season. That means it's hail time. During the first week I bought my XB it was hailing one night and the alarm went off. That was why I wanted to disable the alarm but still lock the car.

The car beeps (NOT chirp or honk) when I lock/unlock it. Now if anybody knows how to disable the beep I would appreciate that very much. In the Owner's Manual pg. 10 it says about disabling the beep twice. "The beep and flashing turn signal lights can be disabled. For details, contact your Scion dealer." "The beep can be disabled. For details, contact your Scion dealer." I don't know why they don't just tell us how to do it there in the Owner's Manual.

Actually, I went to the dealer after I posted this question here and asked the service dept. how to do it. They said that you couldn't do that. The only thing you could do is to turn down the sensitivity setting. There aren't any options w/ this alarm. This alarm is really waaayyyy overpriced.

I'd also like to know how to turn off the chirp/beep when you lock/unlock the car, if anybody knows, if it can be done.
10  General Scion xB / 2nd Gen Scion xB Talk / Re: burnt orange xB on: May 29, 2008, 08:02:10 PM
Nice paint job and I like the way the wheels match, but I've got a strong aversion to burnt orange due to it's affiliation with a certain university's athletic department.

You probably woulda preferred crimson and cream, huh?

My guess is because the VIN starts with JT, J=Japan T=Toyota.
12  General Scion xB / 2nd Gen Scion xB Talk / Re: Ok, what is your MPG with the 2008 xB? on: April 28, 2008, 10:48:26 PM
Just had my first fill-up. 14 gal. for 280 mi. in OKC, city driving, frequent stop lights, mostly around 45 mph. Always tried to up-shift around 2500 rpm, only has about 500 miles, hasn't been driven over 70 mph. Some A/C lately, but mostly without A/C. Computer says 22.5mpg, which is wrong, either that or 7-eleven rig their pump. Funny thing is, after filling up, the 'range' thing says 263. Tires seem a little low, haven't checked 'em psi yet. Might try increasing tires press., see if they help me get to 28mpg like some of you guys.

Light color will show the "floating roof" thing much better, especially if you tint the front windows. I picked BCM, and you're right, under the sun from certain angles it looks purple.
15  General Scion xB / Classifieds / Re: WTB: 08 XB Blackberry Crush Met. Rear Bumper on: April 05, 2008, 10:52:35 PM
Well crap. I am getting ready to change out my bumper in the future but I don't have my new one just yet. Only problem is it won't be your same color.

That's ok, thanks anyway, eviljack.

It's really not that bad. I think I'm just going to duct tape it from the inside, until I find someone who's replacing his stock bumper. The bigger problem is that most of the retainers on the underside of the rear right wheel well that hold the bumper are broken.

Been living there for the past 2 years and not a scratch on my crappy 15-year-old sentra. Have had the xB for barely a week, someone cracked the bumper. Angry
