1  General Scion xB / 2nd Gen Scion xB Talk / Re: Ok, what is your MPG with the 2008 xB? on: May 12, 2008, 06:14:17 PM
not sure if anyone else has noticed - but you can back off the peddle in my xb and watch the mpg gauge go up and still retain the same mph- i get 30plus hwy no problem with about 2000 miles on it -last tank got 27-8 with 70% city

The position of the peddle is a much better indicator of fuel use.  That instant MPG thing is just a guess.

confused The previa door badge says 5215 LBS (I don't have the manual, never needed it)...

Edmunds says the 91 Previa weighs 3,780 lbs, the 2008 xB weighs 3086 lbs.  It also says the xB produces 20 more HP, and that the Previa's MPG was 18 city, 21 hwy (under the old measurement standards).

I use the E/T obsessively.  I have 2 routes to work.  One is a slightly longer distance, but seemed to take less time.  I started using the E/T to compare them.  I've been able to correlate the fastest route to the time I leave my house.

"Feel" distorts the EQ way too much.  I use "hear" since it fixes the phase problem in the default setting and cut the treble and bass a little so I can "hear" the mids.  And I have a 12" sub to fill out the bottom.

i did the same thing as Ross...  when the radio is pulled out and all of your cables are connected...  just set the satellite reciever in the hole... there is plenty of room back there.  hope that helped.

What is the receiver sitting on?  Is it secured in any way?

I installed one of these kits myself finally. I just put the receiver down in the hole that existed when I removed the factory stereo.  It was a pretty good fit.  Basically sits behind where the shifter is , directly under the stereo.  I didn't actually mount it to anything.  Have not run into any problems thus far.

I have no idea where that is.

There is plenty of room in the dash for the reciever.

Where did you mount it?  Mine is just sitting in the glove compartment.  The best place I found for it was covered with padding, not a good mount point.

Without getting a better look, I don't think they were buttons.  When DH gets home, I'll look again.

I'm curious about this, too.  I have the factory mats, and I see the holes in the mats and the floor, but nothing is hooking them together.  The driver's side mat slips around a lot.

So...it can be done.  yes I'll have to keep playing with it.  I tried it like you said but it doesn't read the file I put on the CD.  Wish me luck, I'll have to hide the knives before I start if it ends up like last time.

How are you burning the CD?  I use Nero Burning ROM, and I close the disc (not multi-session).  I don't know if all of that is needed, but it works.  When I tried using Windows CD burner it produced a CD error on the Pioneer unit.

Howdy!

My Kia Sephia got old and started to die, so I asked my mechanic what to get next.  He suggested a Corolla.  I looked at them, but they were so boring.  Then I realized the xB was better in every way (except gas mileage), and it's still a Corolla (in Japan, at least).  I showed my daughter the colors and she picked "Nautical Blue Metallic".  So two days ago I became the proud owner of a 2008 xB.

At first I wanted the base audio, but none of the dealers around here had any in stock.  When I found out the premium audio had sub outs and the dealer knocked $250 off the price, I went with that as my only option.

I ordered custom bumper stickers that say "My other TARDIS looks like a police box".  I also created a Doctor Who themed LKA for the audio display.  The BGV flashes images of the TARDIS, Daleks, etc.

Ultrageekjoy!

It worked for me.
1. Download the Studio app.
2. Use the Studio app to generate an LKA file.  You can use LKD files from the web or create your own in the Studio app.  One LKA file can contain 2 background pictures, one background video and one movie.
3. Once you've generated an LKA file, burn it to a CD-R.  It should be the only thing on the CD.
4. Follow the instructions in the radio's manual for loading the LKA file.  Once it's loaded, your custom stuff shows up in the Entertainment menu.

More info:

I've found that AVI files work better than MPEG-2 files.  When you convert MPEG-2s to movies or background videos, the playback is jerky.  AVIs are smooth.

I created movies from Bladerunner and Star Wars last night.  They look pretty cool.
