Technical & Styling / Wheels & Tires / Re: TPMS and Aftermarket Wheels

If you get new sensors they will have to be programmed by Scion/Toyota, for a fee. If you have winter/summer tires you will have to return to the dealer to have your TPMS reprogrammed so your car will recognize the sensors everytime your change wheels for the season. The cost of doing this will add up over time.
Someone on another board was going to try to put the sensors in a PVC pipe( drill four holes and mount them), seal up the ends, pump some air pressure in the sealed PVC pipe and keep it in the back of the car where the spare tire is located to fool the computer. Sounds like it could work.

General Scion xB / 2nd Gen Scion xB Talk / Re: Service to Scion xB

Call the insurance company that paid the dealership and tell them your car is NOT right and that they are passing the blame for their failure on to you for a lack of patients with them. I would contact the local television station and explain what happened and if there is anything that they can do to help you. File a complaint with the BBB.

As in the past, if it sounds too good...................... Maybe they would like to provide someone here with a free sample. If it's as good as they say it is, look at all of the free publicity they will receive for their small effort.

Just to follow up on my last post. I detailed my xB washed/clayed and waxed my xB and then put it in the sun to check for swirl marks. I am glad to say that after 8 months of ownership and the winter salt/rocks I don't have any swirl marks, paint looks new! As said in my last post, I use a microfiber towel to dry only, not to wash. The microfiber towels are designed to grab the dirt/dust better then a rag and I just don't think that the microfiber cloth will let go of the dirt when I rinse it in the bucket each time.
I believe that the SpeedBead wax I use provides better protection than any of the other stuff on the market.

I have left my lights on a couple of times. The buzzer is too people friendly and is very hard to hear. I always have my battery jumper pack in the back just in case I ever need a jump. Maybe the chime/buzzer could be replace with something from Radio Shack.

Just a question, do you live or work by a railroad? I would believe that the small rust colored spots are caused by the micro metal shavings floating in the air and sticking to the paint again. I know what you are saying when it comes to dealing with some dealerships as they can make a small problem, a big problem. I would try claying again, if they come back, take a deep breath and talk to the dealer.
I just washed my BSP and was very surprised how much stuff is sticking to the paint on the lower portion of the car. Since my Scion is BSP you can only feel the crud and not see it.

Not sure if the Microfiber towels are causing the swirls/small scratches, but the tag has a warning on it that says the label and stitching will cause scratches. I just washed my xB today and haven't notices any swirl marks using the microfiber towels. I use a white cotton cloth to wash and the microfiber to dry. I have BSP and will be waxing it in a couple of weeks so I'll get a better look at the paint finish. Just happy to get off the winters salt for now.

Misc Forums / Canada / Re: Using high beams to warn drivers of speed traps

I think that the police officer was wrong! Alternating flashes of white lights are know as zig zag, left to right headlights lighting up not both lights on highbeams and then off. If flashing your bright lights is illegal then what use is the flash to pass feature from the factory found on most vehicles today?
I flash my bright lights if someone has their bright lights on at night and fail to dim them within a reasonable time frame. I also try to give people a warning that radar is a head, but most people just don't know what I am trying to do for them.
I also give a quick flash at a 4way stop at night to let the other person know that I want them to go first..........off to jail I go I guess!!!
