Technical & Styling / Scion xB Performance / Re: Fujita CAI vs. Injen CAI
|

We had all three like TartanJack said but we recently stopped carrying Injen for a few reasons. The Fujita is just as good as the Injen and sells for much less. If you order through me I'll even sell it to you for an additional discount off what it is on our site. Personally though I have the TRD CAI and I LOVE it. Its a direct ram air system, you can get any better than that, the faster you go the more power your making. Its definately a noticeable difference more so than any of the others ones in my opinion. Jamie Some (like me) are into performance mods, but have to do it a little at a time (family, home, kids). I am watch, reading, listening . . . I will get an intake, as soon as my suspension is up to where I want it to be. My priorities: Interior basics Minimal exterior (trim and grill) Suspension Power. More of all the above
Why power down the list? Great handling allows more speed carried safely through a corner. (Defense done)
So, how do the TRD, Fujita, and Injen compare? (I'd love to hear Ken or Jamie at Sparks elaborate further. They carry 2 of them and had te third till recently.)

General Scion xB / 2nd Gen Scion xB Talk / Re: Ok, what is your MPG with the 2008 xB?

I have been getting 25 mpg regularly on my way to work but just yesterday I had my place install the TRD CAI and the Borla Duals and as I haven't had a chance to really confirm it yet on my way to work today my xB got an average of 30 mpg!! I drive through heavy resort myrtle beach traffic and my morning commute is about 40 minutes each way so really thats pretty good! I'm happy with it at least but let me keep it going to make sure its really helped me that much and I'll post again with an update.

General Scion xB / 2nd Gen Scion xB Talk / Silver xB with TRD 19's and 5Axis Kit
|
on: August 31, 2008, 02:17:24 PM

Here are a couple pics of my xB. I should have some really great pics to post soon, a friend of ours is a photographer and we had a little car show this weekend and then a meet and cruise and got some great shots. But for now your stuck with my crappy camera skills... The dual exhaust section of this 5Axis kit will be fixed very shortly, I am going to put on the Borla Dual that we sell. Jamie

The TRD Cold Air for the new xB is legal in all 50 states, there are no problems with California emissions. This is the one that I am getting because its also the only "ram" air type injection system so the faster your moving the more HP your producing. I can't wait to get it on.

General Scion xB / 2nd Gen Scion xB Talk / Re: Cornering fast!

Oh yeah, we had a IS300 5SPD that we would do that in all the time in AZ, nothing more fun than that! IT IS!
The only time I am able to MAKE it ding is on a very sharp mountain road, that I know well, driven at high speed. I used to make my Miata 4-wheel corner drift on that same road . . . (That is like the OLD sports car, fast driving drift . . . not the modern smoking "drifting.") So, . . .

Tell me about this stupid storm, they've shut down our parts warehouses in FL because they got over 32" of rain in less than 12 hours. Geez, its a lot of rain. I wouldn't wish that on anyone...

General Scion xB / 2nd Gen Scion xB Talk / Re: Fastest you went in your XB?
|

Unfortunately I have to disagree, top gear is going to obviously net you more gas mileage like your saying to cruise but it is also for that same reason that if you had the power to do it you will have a higher top speed in that top gear. I've ran top speed in almost every car I've had, Toyota's, Mazda's, Honda's, even Kia's (highly modified of course) and top speed was always in the highest gear. I have an aerodynamic brick (aka 08 Scion xB) with a 5-speed, so top speed is of no interest to me. I like the power available in 2nd and 3rd gears for winding roads, and 4th gear for straight highways. 5th gear is for level cruising only. In fact, some people assume that overdrive (5th gear with a stick, and 4th gear with the automatic tranny) is potentially faster than the gear just below it. Not true. Overdrive is for relaxed (engine) cruising. Maximum speed is to be found in the gear just below overdrive. At least it's that way with normal cars. If you have a close-ratio transmission, the situation changes. Some close-ratio transmissions don't even have an overdrive. $100,000 German wunder cars might be different, also. I saw one, once.
