I'll...3rd...Discount Tire.  The wheels I found were quite a bit less at Discount Tire than what I could find on-line!

I've had aftermarket halos on other cars and was less than impressed.

Can't wait to see real life pictures.

There is an auto-x event going on here next weekend, I think.  I'm trying to talk the boyfriend into running my car.  He says he doesn't want to embarrass himself (used to auto-x an RX-8) so we shall see!

4  Technical & Styling / Scion xB Performance / Re: FX1 strut bar (ebay from Scion Sport)? on: September 03, 2008, 09:08:31 AM
Personally?  I'd save your money and get the TRD.

I think the Scion Sport one is pretty much worthless, unless you are going for looks.   A Strut Bar is designed to tie the two opposing strut towers together as a single solid unit. The purpose of a strut bar is to reduce flex that these towers experience during hard cornering. When taking a turn a car's strut towers normally flex, resulting in bodyflex and losing some traction.

As strut bars are designed to keep your strut towers from flexing, they distribute the pressure applied to one strut tower when taking a turn to both towers instead of just one.

The Scion Sport strut bar is composed of 3 pieces held together by bolts. Since it's not one piece, I would assume that where the pieces connect it will flex....so it's not really functional, per se.

I'm not running the sensors on mine.  To be honest...the light only comes on about 50% of the time, no idea why!

May I suggest the Tanabe NF210's?   The drop is less than the DF210, but still handles great, IMO.  The drop is 1" in the front and 1.7" in the rear.  I can't remember where I purchased them from but paid around $180 shipped.

The DF210's drop the car 1.7" in the front and 2.1" in the rear.  This drop was just to low for me as I live in a state where we get too much damn snow...among other things!

I have no experience with the other two springs, so I can only comment on the Tanabes!

Those are what I have on my xB, but 19's and in silver not black.  I love em!  Not sure about the TPMS for these wheels.  I just deal with the idiot light.
9  Technical & Styling / Scion xB Performance / Re: 6 Spped Manual Possible and Keyless Engine Starter? on: August 24, 2008, 09:41:04 PM
You can't add remote start to a stick shift.

This is false.  Compustar makes a remote starter/alarm for cars with a manual transmission.  I will be getting it installed on my car here in the near future.

http://www.compustar.com/products/2W900FMR.htm

As long as you make it a habit of parking in neutral, which I do, there should be no problems.  These Compustar units have something called "reservation mode" in which the car must be in neutral and the parking brake on when you remove the key from the car.  If both of these things are not done, the car will not remote start.

Also....not to be rude, but what would be the point of a 6 speed on an xB?  Just curious!

I found that Discount Tire carries a lot more wheels than what they have on the website and awesome prices!  The wheels I got were going for $250+ on the internet and I got them for $119 each.  I had to have them make sure that was indeed for the 19's!

I really like the all blacked out look!

Thanks TulsaToaster!  Yea, if I still lived in Detroit I wouldn't have the 19's!  But roads on the west side of the state are soo much nicer!

Wow-what a great welcome home present! cheers

IMO-the TRD rims are a RIPOFF!!!  If you can buy wheels outright, you'll get a much better deal.

I bought 19" Falken wheels and tires from Discount Tire for under $1100.  They are perfect with the drop.  I have the Tanabe NF210 lowering springs which I believe gives a similar drop to the TRD springs.  Rides great and no rubbing

Here's a pic-

This is a crappy pic since I had to use my wide angle lens, but you get the idea!

13  Misc Forums / Other Cars / Re: Florida shop scammed by '04 Celica owner on: August 16, 2008, 02:25:35 PM
Yup, everything from laptops to 350Z's.

Apparently the Celica is/was owned by the mother.  She actually had to have HER mother co-sign.  They are supposedly behind on their payments a few months so more than likely the was going to get repo'd very soon.  Dono told his mother that the car was going in for a simple paint job.  He had put down about $1200.  He told his mother that his "sponsors" were going to pay for the labor, so she was in the dark.

Dono did NOT get the car back on Friday.  The shop has placed a mechanics lien on the car and put it in an undisclosed location, so dude won't see his car for at least 60 days and probably won't get it back at all.
