1  Technical & Styling / Audio / Electronics / Re: Pioneer AVIC-D3 (Navigation HU) and Pioneer Inno (XM radio, portable) instal on: April 18, 2008, 10:37:20 AM
I'm looking at getting this one:
http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku_id=0926INGFS10084898&catid=20136#
anyone heard anything about it at all? I like the full touch screen with all sorts of functionality including 3 pre-outs and mosfet for the other 4 speakers... considering I want to replace the speakers as well I don't think getting rid of the Scion Sound Processing should be a huge issue...

any opinions?

PS: I really like the pioneer one too, I just saw this one though and the touch screen sounds fun! haha

Haven't heard much on the Kenwood's, I've always been a bit of a Pioneer fan. The D3 is also touch screen and has NAV as well, I don't believe that Kenwood does.

just a quick question... can you still use the AUX and iPOD input with this unit? or does those inputs become useless?

Those inputs are gone when you replace the HU. The D3 has its own inputs you can work with to accomplish the same things, that's being illustrated with the Inno in my case.

Will your CF one have a cut out, or will it be a solid piece of CF?

Good question. Perhaps even have different versions, some with Scion cut out, some xB, etc.
Any prototype pics?

That's why I love my Inno, I have XM live, XM recorded sessions and 500MB worth of MP3 space. All mobile. Smiley

Always resisted Apple products. I'm in IT though, I like being able to service my own hardware and peek under the software. I also like "upgradeability" in a standard MP3 player. Ever take a look at the Sansa players? Me: I love my XM Inno.  Cheesy
They are nice looking devices though, and good tactile feel, have to give Apple that. The corner they have on the aftermarket support is nothing to sneeze at either. Good luck with yours!

I have a D3 and while it's nice and meets my needs you can get a very capable HU without NAV for less than the $600 I paid for my D3. Look into Pioneer and Eclipse...

I have XM and love it. There was a time when I thought it was nuts to pay for radio, now I can't imagine living/driving without my inno.

I've done a bit on my front doors thus far, the moisture barrier is glued on nice and messy with black goop that's a pain to take off wherever you happen to get it on.
Re-install? Never heard of it, everyone I know just leaves it off, especially since you usually have to rip it off in chunks to get it off.

I'm averaging about 28MPG babying it to death. I hardly use the AC taking advantage of the sunroof and I enjoy the fresh air more. I can see getting 23MPG or less rather easily with average driving habits and AC use especially in city driving. Oh well, it is spacious!
