6 Speed Manual Possible and Keyless Engine Starter?
«

Is me throwing questions again. This time, i am not sure i am asking the right question or not. Please bare with me as I am absolutely new in mod world. Maybe i am thinking too crazy or dreaming something not possible. Let me know if it's possible to change to 6 speed manual gear from 5 speed? Beside, it is possible to install a keyless entry and engine starter like Mercedes Benz, BMW, and most of the newest car.

You can't add remote start to a stick shift. You have to depress the clutch to start it because it might be in gear. Even if you could somehow override that feature, starting a manual transmission remotely would have disasterous results if the vehicle was left in any gear except neutral.
Dunno about the six-speed upgrade on an xB. I do know that some fanatical Honda Element owners have upgraded five-speeds to six-speeds. The Element gear box is the same as an Acura or Civic Si six-speed, so it's just a question of adding about $200 in parts...and having serious mechanical skills and the cajones to tear apart a perfectly good transmission.

I think you are talking about the RFID based keyless entry where the car detects the fob near the doors and in the car so it allows the doors to unlock when you touch the handle and use a single start button to start the car. I'm sure it is possible but I don't know of any conversion kits out there yet.

MidlifeCrisis - You got my point. I am looking for that. You do not even have to touch your key, just walk to the car pull the handle and car will unlock. Get in the car and push a button with your key in your pocket and engine will fire up. That is exactly what i am looking for!!! I have this in all my other car and just being spoiled!!!
As for the 6th speed, i guess i will have my eyes open and mouth open to look and ask. If anyone have any suggestion, please do so. I am really looking to do it but do not want to take the risk of messing up until i have sure answer.
THANKS

You can't add remote start to a stick shift.
This is false. Compustar makes a remote starter/alarm for cars with a manual transmission. I will be getting it installed on my car here in the near future.
http://www.compustar.com/products/2W900FMR.htm
As long as you make it a habit of parking in neutral, which I do, there should be no problems. These Compustar units have something called "reservation mode" in which the car must be in neutral and the parking brake on when you remove the key from the car. If both of these things are not done, the car will not remote start.
Also....not to be rude, but what would be the point of a 6 speed on an xB? Just curious!

I am with you on the remote starter on manual trans. It is just not recommended. However, what i am looking for is not remote starter.
There is nothing rude to ask question. I do not mind asking question, even they may sound stupid. No one in this world will know everything. Put it this way, i believe 6 speed tranny can improve on start up and save gas when you are on highway because the extra gear could lower the RPM to 2,500 when your are driving 70MPH rather than 3000+ RPM. Again, i am just assume because not sure. My MBZ has 7 speed and on 70MPH, it's only barely over 2000RPM. Does it make sense? Plus i am also going to add supercharger, entire exhaust system, limited slip differential, and all TRD performance part, i guess it should make some difference. I HOPE

For better fuel mileage and reduced engine wear at normal cruising speeds...
By the way, thanks for setting me straight on remote start for a stick shift. See...you can teach an old dog new tricks.
