Or better yet, carry a can of "fix a flat" and/or use a roadside service like AAA....this would  reduce the drag caused by the top mounted rack and the weight of the under chassis mounted spare...(I've been driving for over 50 years and the need for a spare tire is overrated....just keep good tread and as much as possible avoid sharp objects, curbs at speed, etc....)   Come to think about it I had to change a flat tire maybe twice in 500,000 miles of driving.

shocked DON'T use Fix-A-Flat!!  shocked Your car has TPMS sensors! If you shoot that gunk in there nine times outta ten you will damage your sensor. I want to say there was a company at SEMA that released a new version that is supposed to be much better.

You are correct on the Fix-A-Flat and the TPMS...but, even at that, there are plugs and compress air systems available....need for spare is still over-rated.

Hmmmm, "back on topic"....I'm not sure I understand...the posts have been related to the idea of moving (or removing) the spare tire to make room for whatever...  As it stands no one has offered any suggestions as to where the spare can be relocated to....IMO the topic should not be under the area of "performance" and needs to be moved out of this area.

HEARS YOUR ANSWER buy a set of goodyear runflat tires and eliminate the spare if you get a flat you are still good for  100 miles. plus less weight on the car. Cheesy

Look under your car and see if there is room to put the spare tire or call a scion dealer and ask them if you can put it someplace else. I tried to mount mine on the back with a swing arm but after looking into it more it was near impossible. I think mounting it on the roof (with some type of rack system) is your only bet if there isnt room under the car.

This is the best answer I've seen so far...just wish it was the final answer (at least under the "performance" thread!")
