Most likely your tires are new as the ones that are on mine are. However I saw a date line show about how some tires that people think are new are really not. They may be new in the sense of never having been run on a car, but they may have been sitting on the shelf for years. After sitting for years the rubber starts to degrade and can fall apart. There is a code that you can find on your tire to find out when the tire was made. The code on my xb tires and the new ones I bought is both 0208. That means they were made the second week of 2008. So check for your code. The first 2 letters is the week. Should be 01-52. The second number is the year. If its 1-9 it was made in the 90's. If its 00-08 its in the 2000's.

mine were made in week 32 of 2007 - about two months before i bought it...

here is a good guide chart for cars and trucks:

as eviljack noted below - some tires have it on the inside of the tire

Yeah the code is on the tire. On the factory tires it should be on the outside. My new aftermarket tires have them on the inside.

I saw the code on one of my tires they were mfg in 32-2007 and I bought the xB in Feb of 2008. Not sure if thats good or bad. But I did find the code on only one of the tires. The rest must have them on the inside of the tire.

Ok good deal, they seem to be holding up fine.

In fact i was dressing the tires the other day and found a screw in the back drivers side tire. I went to the local shop and pulled it out and it was in the tread so it didn't go all the way through. This stuff is only happening cause I got the new car that I love. LOL

Good deal on the tires. I am going to make sure I check the tires for the date when I buy new ones as well. This was a good thread, very informative.
